I love love love running. I feel empowered, strong and accomplished during the activity and after and these same feelings and emotions showed up again this past weekend for the Ukrops 10k in Richmond VA. This is the third time I've ran this race but the ONLY time I've ran it pregnant. #20weekspregnant We made the trip to VA the day before the race and of course, we had fun at the expo. Per our usual, we took a pic to remember the start of another fun run. #cheese #smileforthecamera

Sleep the night before the race was HORRIBLE!! Both of my sons were struggling terribly with seasonal allergies and they both wanted to sleep with me. So that meant a night of tossing, turning, praying and #nosleep for me. However, the morning of the race, I felt refreshed as I toed the starting line. Maybe it was my cold brew coffee from #dunkin or maybe not.

My hubs seemed to be low key concerned about me running a 10k at 20 weeks pregnant but he didn't straight out come out and say so. Instead, he called me on my cell just before the start of the race and joined me for the first mile. I had a get a pic of this.

He left the race at one mile but later joined me at mile 5.5 to finish. While running, I left the sleepless night behind me. Instead, I thought about my stride and focused on my breathing. I marveled at the other runners on the course and wondered how many of them were thinking, " This pregnant woman can not beat me". lol I know a few were thinking it and if you were out there too, those would have been your thoughts also. #behonest

The course was flat and easy. The weather, sunny and warm. The volunteers were great and the spectators, encouraging. To date, no race has beaten the spectators support of any race I've ran in Richmond, VA. It is definitely unmatched. Consider running the Ukrops 10K in Richmond, VA if you're ever looking for a short and quick run. You won't be disappointed.

My hips were a little sore after running the 6.2 miles, but nothing too serious. However, I tried to run an easy 20-30 minutes Monday after the race and my hips were like "hell to the nah:. lol So I walked instead. :-)

Until next time my friends.
