Meet Journey. My new best friend.

A few weeks ago my MIL and I, with great effort, loaded my husband's 13 year PLUS mountain bike into my car for the three hour drive back to my home. I was excited to test this bike for my new riding adventures. My first ride (pictured far left) was only three minutes and I was on cloud nine. The air was crisp and the breeze whipping through my fleece invigorated me. I felt ALIVE and instantly knew I was HOOKED. Although, it was fun to be riding the bike my husband once rode around his childhood neighborhood, I quickly realized I would need an upgrade. Some of the gears did not work which made it especially difficult to get up hills. Plus , I don't believe the bike was "fit" for me. This is at least what I told myself (and my husband) as I found reason for purchasing a new bike. With a quick internet search, I found local bike shops that sold the merchandise I was looking to obtain. After a quick test drive around the store's parking lot, I told the sales associated, "I'll take it". My first true purchase in preparation for my #journeytotri life.

Luckily the previous owners of our home installed bike hooks from the ceiling of our garage so my bike had found its new home (middle picture). I marveled with pleasure at my new purchase hanging from the hooks but then quickly decided to take it for a spin. With the wind blowing my hair (I had not purchased a helmet yet), breeze brushing against my face and the sun beaming on my forehead, I thought I have to name my bike. I went through a list...Discover? Trinity? Trini? Victory? None of these seem to fit but then it hit me. JOURNEY.! It's perfect. Journey has quickly became my new athletic best friend. The ride is smooth and I feel safe. She's sleeker than my hubs mountain bike and light enough for me to store up high on my own. I truly believe a new journey has begun for me and that is exactly why I settled on Journey as her name. I look forward to all that is to come on this #journeytotri.

p.s. the picture to the far right is me getting ready to take a ride with all my safety gear i.e. my helmet. lol I finished a quick five mile ride before retiring the bike for the day. I can definitely get used to working out but not having it take as long as a run.

Until next time,

Live outside the box :-)
