Earlier this year I completed a super sprint triathlon that I had originally signed up for in 2022 AFTER I learned I was pregnant and realized I was not going to be able to race the Sprint Triathlon I signed up for July 2022. In my mind, since this was going to be a SUPER sprint, clearly shorter than the SPRINT triathlon, I thought I would be able to manage the race while I was going to be what would have been about 7 months pregnant at that time. It took me some time to ultimately realized any triathlon I was going to attempt in 2022 while pregnant was a no go for me. #stubborn So instead I deferred that 2022 race to 2023 and BOY am I glad I did.

The super sprint scheduled for June 18, 2023 (Fathers Day) was a blast but there is NO WAY I could have done that while pregnant. I'm still a newbie to the triathlon world and the bike is still my least favorite discipline of the three. Even though some would say the bike ride wasn't so bad (i.e hilly), I personally I felt like I was climbing a steady hill on the bike the entire time. Looking back on it, deferring was the best decision I made. I finished strong on the run and quickly left the race site to get back home, shower, and move on to Father's Day festivities. By the way, isn't my hubby awesome to support my triathlon endeavors on the day some would argue it's all about the dads? #luckywife

After getting home and showering, it was time to celebrate the awesome man who with my assistance, became a father. lol Forgive me as I continue to make this about me. :-) But in all seriousness, I appreciate him.

I have a few more triathlon stories to recap from this year including my 70.3 so stay tuned. I promise to get those up shortly. Until the next time-Move your body and have fun doing it.

Had to rush home, but first I had to snap a pic. #cheese

My photogenic kids having fun #momofboys

Me and my older two sons got Henna at a local Juneteenth event that same day. Can you tell which son is my greatest challenge? :-)

Finishers Certificate!! 200 yard pool swim, 5 mile bike, 1.75 mile run. #swimbikerun #iamatriathlete
