I decided to end 2020 walking at least two miles a day for the entire month of December and I am super proud to say I completed the challenge. During the month, I walked in freezing temperatures and also in the rain. I maintained my walking regimen even when we traveled out of town. I walked whether I felt like it or not but honestly, there was not a day I did not want to walk. Instead, I looked forward to it. Yes, even in 20 degree weather I was excited to go for a walk. I felt it was invigorating and even refreshing to have feel the chill on my face while the rest of my body was bundled in winter attire. Being that it was the month of December, I also got to see a lot of beautiful Christmas lights and decorations as I walked around my neighborhood. The decorations added a sense of excitement and joy as I walked. I now have at least two designated walking paths I take around my neighborhood and my MIL house that I know are exactly two miles. So, sometimes I don't even use my GPS watch to track my distance.. This allows me from freedom during my walk as I'm not worrying about pace or time. I'm only appreciating the beauty of the walk.

My MIL neighborhood is beautiful. The neighborhood is adorned with mature trees and the air is crisp and clean. I love to hear the sound of the birds sing as I walk and the calming music coming from wind chimes as I walk. In fact, I recently purchased my own wind chime for my home. The sound is truly medicine to my mind. Peaceful, calm and serene. It can easily help me mentally escape to a beautiful tropical island complete with the heat of the sun and the stillness of the ocean. I absolutely love it.

Being outside in natures beauty gives me life. I try to make sure I spend some time outside daily as a result of this. Nature is nourishing and restoring. Even during winter, when things seem to be cold and dark. Find the beauty in nature and allow it to bring sunshine to your heart.
